Angela Meza (2018)

Categories: Mud Volleyball Recipients, Present Recipients

Angela is 38 years old. She has been a wife to Jesse for 15 years and a mom to Isabela, age 11 and Christian, age 8. She loves to hike, among other things! In 2014, she was met with the biggest challenge of her life: stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She was stage 4 from the start when the breast cancer was discovered in her rib, ilium, and T10 vertebrae. The cancer was kept stable for almost 3 years with hormone suppressant medication. Unfortunately, in 2017 the cancer had metastasized to her liver and after 9 months of different medications, the cancer continued to grow.

Angela started IV chemo in March 2018. She is doing well so far but wants people to know that stage 4 metastatic breast cancer is chronic and not curable once it spreads to other organs. Patients with stage 4 MBC will be in treatment for life, until a cure is found or until treatment options have run out! One in eight patients diagnosed at stage 1, 2, or 3 will go on to progress to stage 4. Please advocate for a cure to wipe breast cancer at any stage, any age!!
