Categories: Mud Volleyball Recipients, Past Recipients

Kate is 26 years old and a pediatric nurse from Omaha. She was diagnosed in October 2018 with stage 2, high grade invasive ductal adenocarcinoma of the right breast. She underwent six rounds of chemotherapy and is scheduled to have a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. Being a young woman that has not had children yet, Kate also went through the process of egg retrieval for storage prior to starting chemotherapy. This is not Kate’s first fight with cancer, she was diagnosed with a Wilm’s tumor as a child, underwent chemotherapy, radiation and had her right kidney removed. Kate is a fighter that strives to bring positivity and humor to any situation life throws at her. Her passion is helping others and caring for kids and their families at work. She is very close with her family and enjoys spending time with friends and her boyfriend Nolan. Kate’s mom, Nolan, her family and friends have been wonderful support and carried her through the hard days. Most importantly Kate is thankful for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He hears her prayers and she knows He has a plan for this current trial in her life. She is thankful for all who are faithfully praying for her. Kate hopes to lift other young survivors up and educate young women on the importance of self breast exams and not ignoring any symptoms that may be concerning. Kate is extremely blessed and very thankful for all of the love and support she has received throughout her cancer journey.
